GAD’s futuristic urban planning vision for Media City awarded prestigious US architecture prize GAD is an international practice with projects that have gained global recognition for their advanced design concepts. The latest award for GAD is The American Architecture Prize™ 2017 that recognizes excellence, creativity and innovation in architectural, interior and landscape design that was given this year to GAD’s Media City, Istanbul, 2017, in the Urban Planning category.  GAD’s design for Media City, an industrial complex located on the periphery of the Istanbul’s new mega airport currently under construction responded to a wide reaching commission from the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce to design a site supporting the multimedia industry in Turkey. The award-winning plan by GAD envisioned a self-sufficient, sustainable city with innovative, interactive planning for technical facilities but also including new typologies and cultural attractions to expose visitors to multimedia’s past, present and future. GAD’s Gökhan Avcıoğlu will accept The American Architecture Prize™ on behalf of the practice in a award ceremony in New York later this year.
