Gokhan Avcioglu Interviewed on the State of Architecture and Construction

In a far ranging interview conducted with Editor Sertac Aytac of leading construction magazine, Santiye, Gokhan Avcioglu provided insight into today’s architecture and construction industry. Avcioglu commented extensively on his own background in architecture in Turkey and his later global activities. His interview included important recollections of working with figures such as Cengiz Bektas in his early years and later interactions with architects such as Alpaslan Ataman, Zaha Hadid, Peter Eisenman, Jean Nouvel and Richard Rogers. He focused on the Five Qualities of Building — Program, Structural Efficacy, Material, Technique, Aesthetic, using examples from GAD’s completed buildings such as Besiktas Fish Market, The Esma Sultan and Divan Kurucesme.
