The goal of this design competition is to investigate the various opportunities available for Izmir Adnan Menderes International Airport. Our design successfully responds to the needs and requirements of the program and presents a completely functional, practical, flexible and architecturally superior international passenger terminal for Izmir.

We believe our design is superior because: • It responds to the program needs successfully • It is fully functional • It incorporates the state-of-the-art technology available for airports • It is flexible and easily expandable • It is capable of serving to international and domestic flights both at the same time • Architecturally, It provides a remarkable terminal experience as an excellent gateway to Izmir and Turkiye

Design of the new airfield  transitions to the existing airfield infrastructure is a critical component of the project. The Airfield design must be complimentary to the new terminal’s operational characteristics to ensure that the final complex can be constructed in a cost-effective manner while enhancing the overall efficiency. It is also dependent upon the proposed aircraft mix, vehicular circulation pattern and the types of activities planned to occur on the apron. We have examined the related documents provided by the competition program, investigated the site, and spoken to the operations people at Izmir – Adnan Menderes Airport and we feel that our design will respond best to the operational characteristics of the existing airport and needs and requirements of the site. It integrates efficiently into the existing aircraft traffic pattern, existing grading, apron paving pattern and its drainage network in a cost-effective manner.

During the implementation of this project, we will focus on establishing the applicable criteria for the types of aircraft intended to use the facility initially as well as ensuring flexibility for future revisions in the fleet mix.
