GADtown

GAD(lab)_future housing from GADarchitecture on Vimeo.

GADTown is an exploration into the potential solutions emerging from formal and programmatic difference, and the ways in which variation can lead to an infinite number of solutions to a single problem. Under this premise, a module is developed relevant to a specific situation, and these modules in turn have the potential for endless clustering and hybridization. The multiplication of this system of clustering ignites various organizational possibilities that range in scale and intention.
GADTown is structured from a base component [S1], and is further modified thru a series of differentiations, slices and morphs of each other. As the result is repeatedly evaluated, modified, and redefined, the base component slowly approaches a specific solution. The result is a series of continuous and fluid surfaces, and there is no longer a distinction between floors, walls, and ceiling structures. Surfaces satisfy the role of structure, enclosure, and solar protection. Openings are distinguished by their function, and are articulated accordingly.
GADTown is an ongoing project, and continues to evaluate the world we live in, and to question our assumptions regarding the built environment.
