Global Architectural Development is an award winning company, based in Istanbul and New York, that has been performing architectural practice, research and concept design since 1985. The firm is owned by Gokhan Avcioglu and is in partnership with GAD’s global collaborators.
GAD’s belief is that contemporary and current architecture & urbanism are influenced by software, consumer habits and behaviors and approaching to the projects holistically. These are among its field of interest. GAD understands architecture as a practice that relies on experimentation, values historical precedents and finds new ways to combine both in a mutually benefiting fashion.
GAD Architecture is committed to finding innovative approaches to architecture and creating new spatial experiences with projects and ideas.
GAD has won numerous awards including:
- 1997 Turkish Architecture Prize for the design of a Public Park in Istanbul,
- 2001 Cimsa Design Prize for outdoor seating,
- 2003 Bronze medal in Miami Biennale for Borusan Exhibition Center,
- 2010 Europe’s Best Architecture in International Property Awards for Autopia,
- 2010 mentioned in Urban International Award in Berlin for Besiktas Fish Market,
- 2011 International Architecture Award from Chicago Athenaeum and Europe Architecture Centre for Borusan Music House,
- 2011 Best Alternative Investment from Arkiparc for Borusan Music House,
- 2011 Exclusive domination with Europes Best Highrise and Highly recommended awards in higrise category of 2011 International Property Awards for MLTP Residences and NLF Residences.
The Public park in 1998 and in 2004 and Esma Sultan Venue place in 2001 was short listed for Aga Khan Award for Architecture.
